Great fridge freezer as I’m sharing my 2 years of owning it then now bought a stf90.
I want to pont a few good and bad point regarding the product as I owned a MT45 before upgrading to that one.
Good points:
* Amazing power consumption (average of 26AH per day temperature set at -11 deg)
* Good overall strong structure
* The ability to choose the fridge / freezer compartment size
* Compressor not too noisy and only kick when needed
* The led light
Bad points:
* Quite heavy and and if you add a fridge slider or a fridge drip add it’ll add a considerable weight.
* The plastic used to fabricate the body and lid are not good quality / or strong and will degrade then crack quickly as seen on photos. This was after 1 year of owning it and the unit always stay under the bed tucked away from the sunlight and weather and I read before this was concerning a few other old Engel units before they fabricate the MTV45
* The new latch system is great and strong but after using it for 2 years the spring got slack and doesn’t lock as it used to.
* They are still easy to scratch so maybe powder coating them is the way to go
And lastly I want to add. I do not mind spending some extra money to get a stronger fridge and better quality but the quality has considerably dropped over the models while the price of Engels fridges has increased. Engel need to keep on top of quality control and parts quality
This fridge is smarter that you may think. Yes the divider seems agricultural, but there is actually a hidden thermostatically controlled fan inside the upper side of the fridge section that circulates cold air from the freezer side to the fridge side. This fan does accurately maintain the fridge section between 0-5C, assuming the freezer side is set to below 0C. The cooling power of the unit is a little down to that of the 40L owing to the much smaller evaporator, but it still performs well here in the Kimberley on 40C+ days in the back of my Patrol.
